Clear skin is everyone’s dream, and it takes more than just skincare products to achieve it. As the saying goes, ‘you are what you eat’, it shows on the skin whether you are into oily and sugary foods or you claim your space in the beautiful skin world by eating right!

I have gone through acne for the better part of my life, and I have tried a whole lot of skincare products to get rid of it, and the answer was in my diet.

Let me share my experience and nutrition studies with you to help you achieve clear, glowing skin, irrespective of your age.

Link between Diet and Skin

The diet and skin are interrelated. As food can heal or harm your body, and skin is the largest organ of your body, which absorbs everything both from inside and outside.

That’s why you get hydrated skin if you drink 2-3 litres of water everyday and it appears dry if you don’t drink enough.

Foods to Avoid For Clear Skin

This is the hard part but the most important part to heal your skin. Food that causes breakouts includes

Dairy Products

Don’t cut it off completely, especially if you are a vegetarian; reduce the amount and see if it is the culprit. Most of the milk is now hormone-induced, which can cause hormonal acne as well, among other disturbances.

Sugar

I hate to say it, but it is the biggest collagen destroyer, and it makes your skin a home for bacteria. So you need to reduce your sugar intake considerably to get clear skin.

Can’t cut it fully? Reduce the amount, that’s what I do.

Oily Food

Healthy fats are required for healthy skin, but the kind of oil in which the junk food is made makes it all the more unhealthy for your gut and skin. Switch to home-made food.

If you don’t know how to cook, well, Learn! It’s no rocket science, if you need to eat, you most certainly need to cook!

Overly Salty Processed Food

I am guilty of consuming too many chips, and I think I am not going to give up on them ever, but eating in moderation is the key. Reserve the weekend for snacking; this way, you are going to eat healthy all week.

What to Eat To Get Clear Skin

Now, the Good part! Focus on

Eat Nuts Every Day

Rotate the nuts, let’s say you have had almonds one day, walnuts the other and raisins the next to absorb all kinds of vitamins, minerals and omegas effectively.

Consume One Green Tea Everyday

Green tea has antioxidants that are amazing to provide that luxurious glow to your skin, and it detoxifies the body gently but effectively.

Drink 8 to 10 Glasses of Water

I know this sounds like easy advice, but it is really important, and we don’t give due importance to it. Water is hydrating and helps in detoxification.

Keeping a bottle with you works the best in keeping track of your hydration quotient.

Eat Anti-Inflammatory Food

Right from Berries to broccoli, olive oil, avocado, fruits and vegetables, these anti-inflammatory food items will decrease the ongoing inflammation within and will help clear the skin up.

Take Vitamins & Minerals

Deficiency of vitamin D, vitamin B12 and zinc is also known to cause acne and skin issues. Make sure you are taking these supplements after talking to your healthcare professional.

Conclusion

Eat well, drink clean, cut sugar and take your supplements, then no one can stop you from having clear, glowing skin!

Clear skin is no less than a journey. Give the diet at least 4 weeks to show results.
