Jojoba oil based DIY facewash for winter for acne skin

Winter winds are harsh for even the oily acne-prone skin. Your skin loses moisture in the dry air and gets all wrinkly without enough hydration. We being the oily skin people often make the mistake of not moisturising our skin enough!

And it’s not our mistake, adding moisture to the already oily skin seems counterintuitive. However, it is very important to keep your skin hydrated all the time, especially in winter. Indian winters are really chilling and I really can’t muster the courage to wash my face in the evening.

So this oil-based DIY winter facewash for acne-prone skin came into the picture. I made it and I have been using it for more than 15 days now and boy! It’s a success! No Need to wash my face again in the evening as it doesn’t get oily anymore!

This DIY facewash has been proven to be the best one to date and I simply love it. No blackheads, clear face, fully moisturised skin and above all NO ACNE!

Ingredients Required for this Anti-acne Winter Facewash

  • Chickpea flour (besan) – The Indian staple for all beauty recipes. It clears the pores and removes blackheads and whiteheads too. It clears the dirt as well.
  • Sandalwood Powder (Chandan) – Sandalwood powder has skin-soothing properties and is especially good for inflamed and irritated skin. It’s like a piece of ice on the burnt skin. Sooooo Soothing!
  • Wild turmeric (van haldi or Kasturi munjal) – This special turmeric is different from our regular household turmeric and is more beneficial for all skin ailments. It imparts a healthy glow to the skin and also decreases unwanted hair growth on the face when used regularly.
  • Jojoba Oil – This is what makes it different from the summer anti-acne facewash. As jojoba oil mimics the skin sebum and nourishes the skin without making it oily. It is the best anti-acne oil that doesn’t clog pores and here are other amazing benefits of jojoba oil.

How to Make this Oil-based Facewash for Acne Prone Skin

Take 1 tablespoon of chickpea flour, 1 tablespoon of sandalwood flour, ½ tablespoon of wild turmeric powder, and 1 tablespoon of jojoba oil or less.

Mix all the dry ingredients in a wide-mouth bottle, then mix jojoba oil in it to make a paste-like consistency. It must not be runny. Sometimes the paste will form small balls and that is okay (see the picture above).

How to Use This DIY anti-acne Winter Facewash

Take these balls on your palm, add a few drops of water and rub it in between your palms. This will turn into a paste that you can easily apply on your face, neck and even whole body if you want.

Things to Consider While Using This DIY Winter Facewash

  • Rinse your face properly before using a towel to pat dry your face as wild turmeric can stain your towels if you don’t remove it properly.
  • Do not make the facewash in large quantities, if you do not like it then you will end up wasting a whole lot. So make it in a small quantity as advised above.
  • Make a fresh paste every month to keep the ingredients in their best condition.
  • Don’t forget to use a DIY apple cider vinegar toner after it. It will clear those inflammatory acne and prevent the new ones from coming.
  • For moisturizers, you can use grapeseed oil in winter and aloe vera gel-based moisturizers in summer. Here are the 10 best moisturisers for acne-prone skin in India
  • Please don’t use any other oil besides jojoba oil as it is one of the best carrier oils for acne that doesn’t clog pores or mimic skin sebum.
  • Use it only in the winter season, for the summer season use this dry facewash & scrub.

Why am I Recommending this facewash to You?

After using this facewash for more than 15 days or so, my skin is already moisturized. No more oily face in the evening, skin looks healthy, clear and plump and no more new acne.

Plus it gives the effects of oil cleansing as well in one go 🙂

That’s all folks! I hope this idea of making your own facewash helps you get rid of your active acne and stop the new ones from coming.
