We all have gone through all those years where we choose a new year’s resolution, fight for it (and with it) for a full week or two, then give up. Which is why we end up being pretty much the same as last (many) year/s.
Do something different this year, just give your new year a head start by doing just five things every month, starting this January.
These things will make your daily chores easy, your head clear, your goals achievable, your brain well fed, and your health better.
Here are 5 things you can do at the start of every month to achieve every goal in your life –
Table of Contents
1. Review Last Year’s Progress
Those who don’t know what they have done in the past are meant to repeat the same mistakes in future as well.
So take a look at what you have achieved in the last year, what went wrong, and what you can do better in the future.
The best way to do that is to make a table as per your goals, like I made a list of how many blogs I published and how much money I made in the past year.
Believe me, it was eye-opening! I didn’t know that I did so little in many areas where a lot can be done.
This gave me amazing insight and also a future agenda.
2. Quickly Set up Your Almira
Hear me out before you frown!
Setting up your clothes closet is going to be a game-changer for the whole month.
Whenever you open your almirah, you will see your clothes neatly lined up or hung. This will make ‘what to wear for the day’ a breeze.
You will notice that when the things around you are in order, tidy, or in sync, you make better decisions, as your brain is calmer.

3. Line up the Goals for the Month
When you get your goals in writing, they have a different effect on you and your actions. So get them in writing and set up a schedule if possible.
If you don’t want to micromanage, you can simply write at least the 5 or 10 major things you want to achieve this month, such as lose one kg of weight, get your haircut done, book tickets for the upcoming trip, write 10 blogs or make 5 videos as per your profession and priorities.
4. Take Out one Book to Read
Are you also like me, who buy a book every now and then but hardly finds the time to read it?
If yes, then take one out from your precious & untouched collection and keep it somewhere, where you get to see it often, like in your living room, dining table, centre table, etc.
When you see it quite often, you will likely find at least 10 minutes daily to read it.
If you do that, you will be able to finish reading a book in one month and then repeat the process!
5. Add 5 minutes of Exercise to your Routine
Just 5 minutes!
Yes, it will make a huge difference in the long run so just choose which exercise you can do in 5 minutes, there are many.
As a physiotherapist, I can think of a lot of exercises that can be done in 5 minutes and still make a difference to your muscle and bone health.
Some of them are bridging, spine extension exercise, push-ups, sit-ups, muscle toning exercises and Surya Namaskar.
Just pick one and start doing it from today, you can also cycle different exercises throughout the week!
Bonus: Try one new recipe
Well, cooking is not a hobby, it’s a survival skill, even if you don’t like to cook, see some food reels on insta and you will definitely want to make one. Try it, maybe you unlock a new passion!
