In the simplest terms, Collagen is the youth-retainer. More collagen in your body, the better your appearance will be, and you will look like a 20-year-old in your 40s and beyond.

After a lot of research, I have found out some of the most effective skincare products that help in boosting collagen production in your skin and avoid wrinkles, fine lines, and sagging skin(1.1).

So let’s dive in and make sure we are not missing out on the collagen booster skincare products that actually work.

1. Squalane

This is one of the gentlest skincare actives that I have used so far; it makes your skin glow without making it oily.

It also repairs sun damage, removes the tan, and helps in skin renewal, which makes it one of the top anti-ageing elements (1).

Its cell renewal property makes it a good collagen booster when applied regularly to the skin.

Here are some squalane serums you can check out! For Out of India users, check the popular Squalene serums here.

2. Dragon Fruit Peel Extract

Dragon fruit rind uses as a collagen booster for skin

The one fruit that we all think is hyped beyond its worth, is worth it!

Dragon fruit peel has been studied (2), and it is rich in all good things such as flavonoids, anti-oxidants, phenols and tannins, etc.

These properties are even better than the fruit flesh itself!

So all you can do is, take the dragon peel, dry it, powder it and mix it in your aloe vera gel or any gel moisturizer.

Or you can choose from Dragon fruit Skincare – For Indian Users, For US users.

3. Aloe Vera

Aloe vera has been shown to increase the formation of collagen and elastin fibers by activating fibroblasts (the collagen builder cells), which improve skin elasticity and reduce wrinkles (4).

Rich in flavonoids and antioxidants, aloe vera is your one-stop solution for every skin problem. Believe me, it does more than you know!

It is also anti-inflammatory (redness, swelling, rash treatment), antibacterial, antifungal (acne, skin fungal infections treatment), and even antiviral as well.

Choose Aloe vera gel from Amazon here, if you are from India, and here if you are from outside India.

4. Ginseng

Ginseng for Collagen Boosting on Skin

Asia’s best-kept secret, which is quite popular now but it deserves more space in your skincare arsenal due to its amazing benefits.

Ginseng not only boosts collagen(6), but it also helps in reversing sun-induced skin damage and relieves skin roughness as well.

If you frequently suffer from skin problems, then this is your best bet, as it relieves issues such as acne, hair loss, and atopic dermatitis.

I am in love with Beauty of Joseon products, especially the ones that have Ginseng in it. For example its sunscreen serum has 30% Ginseng in it, and it absorbs so well into the skin, making it perfectly dewy.

5. Ghee

Washed ghee as collagen booster for skin

An Indian staple, Ghee is used in every Indian home, and it is undoubtedly the prominent source of many vitamins (A, D & K), essential fatty acids and omega-3 and omega-9 (7).

Made by processing cow milk, 100 times-washed ghee (Shat Dhuta Ghrita) in a copper vessel has been used for all skin ailments for ages.

The ghee, when washed 100 times with a special process, becomes a purified skin elixir.

It helps in boosting collagen, hydrating the skin while providing all the vitamins, omega-3 & 9, along with essential fatty acids.

This delays wrinkles and the ageing process of the skin and gives you a firm, wrinkle-free skin that is plump with a radiant glow!

Other than these, some of the lesser-known collagen boosters are thyme, Ginseng, Common wheat, liquorice, pomegranate seed oil and rosehip, etc(5).

I hope this article will be of some use to you, and it will help you in your skincare journey.

Just know that you are beautiful, with or without the signs of ageing!
