This article is about the Cetaphil review for acne-prone oily skin that is very sensitive and reacts to each and every new skin-care product.
I am a skincare enthusiast and I suffer from bad acne quite often. After trying a lot of skincare products, I decided to switch to a simple-looking yet effective skincare product, Cetaphil.
I was using a few active ingredient products in the past that made me break out even harder.
As I love to experiment with new skincare products every time, I also have to pay the price for it.
So after a lot of research, I bought this Cetaphil combination of Cetaphil gentle cleanser and Cetaphil moisturizer.
To be honest, I was not very hopeful but I swept all my serums and exfoliants off my bathroom shelf and kept just these two bottles and a toner. Here is what I experienced.

How I Applied Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser and Moisturizer?
- Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser for oily skin & acne prone skin – I took a coin-sized cleanser and rubbed it on my wet face to make foam. To my surprise, no foam was there, just a few bubbles and for a few days, I felt like it was not cleansing well. As the name suggests, it is actually gentle and doesn’t strip the oil from the face. So you need to be a bit patient with that.
- Toner – After the cleanser, I used Innisfree’s troubled skin toner and dabbed it with my fingers.
- Moisturiser – After one or two minutes ( Ideally it should be 5 minutes), I applied half a coin-sized moisturizer by taking it on my palm and applying it on the face in gentle circular motions till absorbed.
- I followed this regime once a day as I couldn’t wash my face in the evening during these chilling winters in India. For summer, follow these tips to prevent acne breakout
- I used lukewarm water (not hot) to wash my face, believe me, it makes a difference.
How did the Cetaphil Cleanser and Moisturizer Work?
It worked great.
- First of all, I felt it is doing nothing on my face, there is no magic with this combo, and it takes time. In my case, it took 3 weeks to show the effect.
- My acne reduced and the dullness on my skin disappeared.
- Even with the acne scars, my face looks brighter than ever.
- I think it repaired my skin barrier amazingly. I have been using it for about two months now as the combo is going on and on.
Did Cetaphil make my Acne go away?
It did play a role in reducing my acne considerably but I will give due credit to my toner as it has salicylic acid in it. But as far as period acne is concerned, I still get them.

My Final Verdict About Cetaphil
It is a good option for acne-prone skin that’s red and irritated or if you have exfoliated or used a lot of active skin ingredients in the past. I think every woman who is facing acne in her 30s must try this combo to repair the skin, control acne, reduce dullness and get a healthy glow. If you are really fed-up of acne, consider ditching all skincare products and go natural
