Yes, Busy people can also have a Self-care routine for themselves with some tiny additions to their busy schedule.
Self-care doesn’t mean just washing your face and following your skincare routine, although it is an essential part of self-care but it’s not the whole of it!
Self-care is an important duty that you have towards your body and mind.
Taking care of your Physical, Mental and Financial well-being is your responsibility.
In today’s fast life and busy schedules, it is tough to do all that, so here are a few bare minimums you must do in your busy schedule.
I hope this article about developing a self care routine for busy people will help all ‘busybees’ take time for their self-care routine.
So here is what you need to do –

Morning Movements
Get up just 10 minutes earlier than you do, and don’t spend these 10 minutes lazying around in bed. Instead, get up, rub your hands and apply those warm hands on your eyes before opening them.
Now, go out to your balcony or garden (from where you can see the sky or the plants), sit there and do kapalbhati pranayama for 5 minutes, and one surya namaskar afterwards.
Now rush to your usual morning, you will see what world of a difference this tiny 10-minute improvement will make in your mental and physical health.
Motivation Bite – I lost 2 kgs weight within a month by giving these 10 minutes extra to my mornings.
Healthy Meal Additions
Yes, I know you don’t have time for this but make these small changes and that will make a hell lot of difference to your health, skin and hair in the long run.
- Add one cup of green tea/blue pea tea/hibiscus tea to your daily routine.
- Soak a few almonds and walnuts every night and have them as per your liking.
- Be mindful of what you are eating
- Try to eat one serving of fruit or salad every day if not both.
- Add Mint leaves in your water bottle every day (for females only) for clear skin and to decrease testosterone (clear bright skin, less hairy face)
- Less Sugar please, it’s eating your youth aka collagen!
Follow a Diligent Skincare Routine
That’s one of the most loved parts of self-care but not by everyone, If you think of it like a chore, then opt for a three-step skincare routine instead of a 10-step one.
Well, I am also a minimalist in terms of skincare but you need to wash your face every night too, this is the least you can do for your ageing skin.
- Wash your face in the morning, use a toner to shrink your pores, followed by sunscreen. If you have one extra minute, then please use a serum before sunscreen that targets your problems such as pigmentation, fine lines, loose skin etc.
- Wash your face at night, even if you don’t wear makeup, then apply a night cream suitable to your age, if you are not breastfeeding, retinol is your best friend, and bakuchiol is equally good too.
- On weekends, opt for sheet mask/clay mask/pedicure/manicure/nail paint, or anything that makes you feel good.
- Give your skin a rest from all the products once a month, they call it ‘Skin Fasting Day’. Just wash your face and leave it as it is. Apply aloe vera gel liberally if you feel like it!
- Oil your scalp and hair once a week before shampooing.
- Get a hair spa and a facial whenever you get a chance, even if it’s on your birthday, just do it.
- Doing Your nails at home with these beautiful minimalist Fall Nail designs is not less than a treat to yourself!
Break the Barriers Everyday
The barriers that stop you from feeling good, hopeful, relaxed and happy must be broken. Just take some me-time, a quiet time, just for yourself.
If you are a mom, just tell your kids that it’s Mommy’s me time, and they shouldn’t disturb you.
Believe me, they will understand, eventually. That me time can be anywhere from 15 minutes to whatever those little buggers allow you to.
You can do anything you please in that time, be it reading a book, sipping your cuppa or talking to a friend.
Say Yes to Help
Women often refuse help, I do that too but with time, now I have learnt to say Yes to all the help you get.
If someone is offering to clean with you, please say Yes. Even the tiniest help will go a long way.
Stop taking all the load on your shoulders, share the load!
It is one of the best self-care things I have learnt so far.
Some Wise Additions To Your Self-Care Routine
- Start taking multivitamins in rotation (ask your physician before that). For example, take one capsule of vitamin B complex daily for 10 days then switch to vitamin E and so on. Make sure you ask your healthcare professional before that considering your health conditions and allergies etc.
- Many self-care books swear by taking full body massages at least once a year. It is a genius way to improve the blood supply of the whole body and remove toxins. Here are a few ideas for doing body massage at home.
- Take 6-8 hours of sleep, don’t compromise on that. Less sleep means more diseases.
- Get groomed once a month, that’s a big feel-good factor. Even if it means just colouring your hair or getting your eyebrows shaped, do it.
- Pursue your hobby and your dreams. Instead of wasting time watching reels mindlessly, learn any skill you always wanted to learn, be it baking, painting, sewing, knitting, crafting, digital drawing etc.

Well, that’s all for this one, I hope this self-care routine for busy people will help them in many ways.
You will only be able to take care of your loved ones if you care for yourself first.
